The Christian Association of Nigeria, Ogun State chapter has installed a former Nigerian Ambassador to Sweden, Raffy Bell, and his wife, Kikelomo, as Otun Asiwaju and Yeye Otun Asiwaju of Onigbagbo of Ijebuland.
The occasion, held in Ijebu-Ode, had in attendance the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; a former governor of Ogun State and senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel; wife of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Bola; and the Chief Executive Officer of Adron Homes, Adetola Emmanuel, among others.
In his remarks, the Ooni harped on religious tolerance, saying it is one thing all Nigerians must hold in sanctity to preserve the unity of the country.
Oba Ogunwusi, represented by Queen Temitope Ogunwusi, said, “We must never allow religion to divide us or cause any animosity, rather religion demands that we should love one another, that we should be pure to God and ourselves and we should work for the betterment of our dear nation.”
Oba Ogunwusi described Bell and his wife as God-fearing, humble and favourably disposed to serving God and advancing the gospel.
The Chairman, CAN, Ogun State, Bishop Tunde Akinsanya, while decorating Bell and his wife, urged them to keep the flag flying for Christ.
Reacting to the honour, Bell said, “We are both excited and grateful to God for this honour, we return all the glory to God. It is a work of grace, and for me and my wife, we shall continue to do our best to provide the right leadership for Christians in Ijebuland and work with others to further shine the gospel light.”
